Cardoso sheds light on Linda Mntambo’s importance to Sekhukhune United
Sekhukhune United defender Daniel Cardoso has offered valuable insight into the importance of his captain, Linda Mntambo, to the club.
Mntambo made a return back to playing football after recovering from a lengthy injury-setback that kept him on the sidelines for the whole year.
The 34-year-old had last kicked the ball last season in February 2023 and played his first game of the 2023/24 PSL campaign in February 2024.
To date, the former Orlando Pirates star has made nine appearances in all competitions for Babina Noko. He has been in great form, leading the team’s attack. ‘Figo’ has found the back of the net five times and provided two assists in the process.
For his consistent performances on the field, Mntambo was voted the DStv Premiership Player of the Month for February/March. In addition, he has won two Man of the Match awards for his impressive performances
CARDOSO SAYS LINDA MNTAMBO IS THE MISSING LINK
Cardoso has lauded Mntambo, calling him an invaluable asset any team would be lucky to possess. The ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender highlighted Mntambo’s energy and leadership as key qualities.
He further praised his captain for being versatile. In previous matches, Mntambo has played as a striker and scored goals.
“Yeah look, he [Linda Mntambo] is that missing link in a few teams,” Cardoso told FARPost. He has a great personality, he brings us all together and that’s why he’s the captain.
“His energy is phenomenal, if he goes to any team, his energy just lift the team and he’s a great leader as well.
“Now he’s busy playing in the number nine [striker] he’s hitting the role perfectly. He’s on the five goals in the last month. He’s outstanding coming back from a lengthy layoff injury.”
