Why Hungry Lions FC is planning to move to Gauteng

Lions who are participating in the Motsepe Foundation Championship are currently based in Kimberly, Northern Cape.
The club is in its third season in the Motsepe Foundation after gaining promotion from the ABC Motsepe League in 2021.
In their first season in the NFD, Hungry Lions finished 11th on the log standings and they went on to finish in the fifth position the following campaign.
The Northern Cape-based outfit has won seven matches in the league this season, drawing eight while losing seven times and they are sitting on the seventh spot after collecting 35 points in 24 games.
HENDRY BASIE FEELS LIONS NEED TO MOVE TO GAUTENG TO IMPROVE THEIR CHANCES OF GAINING PROMOTION
With Hungry Lions aiming to stamp their authority in the second-tier, Basie has revealed that they are planning on moving to Gauteng to improve their chances of gaining promotion to the DStv Premiership.
“You know there’s one thing that I think is a bit of a problem for us. We travel long distances when we going to matches and that’s not go became the players get tired,” Basie told FARPost.
“So you know when you have a home somewhere and leave it for better opportunities it doesn’t mean you are abandoning that home. Just like people who leave their different homes to work in Gauteng.
“We feel that we need to be in Gauteng because it’s central to many places like when we travel to Venda or KZN.
“If we can sort that out first, I think we will be able to compete because we’ll have a chance to play friendlies with different teams. If I can tell you, in Kimberly we don’t play friendlies during the week because there are no teams to play against.
“We have Upington City in the province but they are a bit far from us so it’s difficult.”
