Agent provides update on Xola Mlambo’s pursuit of new club

Basia Michael, the agent for midfielder Xola Mlambo, has provided an update on his client’s pursuit of a new club in the PSL.

Mlambo has been without a club for almost a season now after he parted ways with DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy prematurely ahead of the current campaign. The last time he was in action was back in May 2023 against Sekhukhune United in the league.

The well-travelled midfielder is 32 and insists that he has a few seasons left to play football in the SA top-flight.

Mlambo is among some of the top PSL players who are free agents. This includes the likes of Aubrey Ngoma, Mpho Makola, Eric Mathoho, Darrel Matsheke, and Shaun Mogaila.

‘Ten Ten’ has previously played for teams like Chippa United, now-defunct Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates, and AmaZulu FC. In his football career, he has won two trophies with Wits: the 2016/17 league title and the 2017/18 Telkom Knockout [Carling Knockout].

THE LATEST ON XOLA MLAMBO’S SEARCH FOR A NEW CLUB

The player’s agent revealed that they are in discussion with some PSL clubs to get a deal. The aim is for Mlambo to have a club when the new season starts.

“It’s a working progress, that’s all I can say for now,” Michael told FARPost. “At the moment, I cannot mention the clubs [we are in discussion with], but it’s something we are working on.”

With the season ending next month, in May, Mlambo will be hoping to secure a new home during the pre-season. This will help him to gel with the new teammates and coaches before the 2024/25 campaign gets underway.

To maintain his fitness levels, the experienced midfielder is training with his personal trainer, Lebohang. In addition, ABC Motsepe League side Wits University has welcomed him to train with them.
