Boost for Lyle Foster’s Burnley ahead of Man United tie
Lyle Foster’s Burnley FC have received a boost ahead of their tie against Benni McCarthy’s Manchester United on Saturday, 27 April, in the English Premier League.
The two teams will lock horns at Old Trafford, eyeing nothing other than three points. Kickoff is set for 16H00.
The Clarets are facing an uphill battle to survive relegation in the top-tier league. On the other hand, Man United are looking to secure a spot in a European competition next season.
With four matches remaining to conclude the 2023/24 campaign, the Bafana Bafana star’s team is sitting 19th on the log standings. Their poor form and struggles for consistency throughout the campaign have seen them only collect 23 points.
Currently, they are three points shy from safety [17th position], a spot which is occupied by Nottingham Forest.
LYLE FOSTER RECOVERS FROM AN INJURY SETBACK
Burnley FC coach Vincent Kompany revealed that Foster is available to play against the Red Devils.
The former Orlando Pirates striker was a doubt for the match after an injury against another relegation-threatened side, Sheffield United, last time out. He was substituted in the second half.
Without going much into detail, Kompany said a few words describing Foster’s situation during a pre-match press conference. “He’s fine and all good,” revealed the coach.
The 23-year-old is high on confidence after ending his nine-match goal drought in all competitions in a resounding 4-1 victory over Sheffield. He took his goal tally to five in the league from 20 appearances. In addition, Foster also has three assists to his name.
Against Man United, Foster will also be aiming to hit the target in back-to-back matches in the English top-flight.
