Key players missing for Chiefs, Pirates in midweek clashes
PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will have to do without some of their key players for the DStv Premiership mid-week matches.
Pirates will travel to the Western Cape to face struggling Cape Town City FC on Wednesday, 1 May. Kickoff at DHL Stadium is at 15H00.
On Thursday, 2 May, Chiefs will host their rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. The mouthwatering encounter at FNB Stadium is at 19H30.
EDMILSON DOVE, MAKHEHLENE MAKHAULA AND PATRICK MASWANGANYI ARE ALL SUSPENDED
The Glamour Boys will make a change at the back as centre-back Edmilson Dove will miss the tie against Masandawana. The 24-year-old has been one of the key players for the Naturena-based outfit this season. The Mozambique international has featured in 17 matches in all competitions.
Dove have picked up four yellow cards. He was booked in the matches against Cape Town City FC, Richards Bay FC, Sekhukhune United and lastly, SuperSport United.
Pirates duo Makhaula and Maswanganyi will watch the encounter against the Citizens from the stands. Maswanganyi and Makhaula also have four yellow cards to their names respectively.
Maswanganyi has been a key player for the Bucs in his debut season. In 34 matches, he has scored nine goals and provided 10 assists. ‘Cash’ on the other hand, plays in pivotal part in Pirates’ midfield after making 14 appearances and scoring one goal.
‘Tito’ was cautioned in matches against Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu FC [ in the Nedbank Cup and in the league] and Royal AM. Makhaula received the yellow cards against Chippa United, Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu FC and Royal AM.
OTHER PLAYERS THAT WILL MISS DSTV PREMIERSHIP MID-WEEK MATCHES
Usuthu will be without defender Abbubaker Mobara, whilst relegation-threatened Cape Town Spurs will have to replace midfielder Asanele Velebayi.
Chippa United will be without the trio of Justice Chabalala, Roscoe Pietersen and Sirgio Kammies. Defender Simphiwe Mcineka is unavailable for Richards Bay FC.
