Lehlohonolo Majoro credits Romain Folz for his transition
Former AmaZulu FC striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has shared insights into his relationship with coach Romain Folz and the coach’s positive influence.
Folz parted ways with the KZN-based club in June 2023 at a time when he was the team’s technical director. He had initially joined the club as head coach before transitioning to technical director.
Despite challenges during his tenure, the former coach’s work ethic and impact are recognised by Majoro’s high praise.
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates forward has been unattached since leaving Usuthu in July 2023.
MAJORO REVEALS FOLZ’S IMPACT ON HIS FOOTBALL CAREER
And it is during this time on the sidelines that Folz has impacted the 37-year-old striker.
Majoro said Folz influenced him to start his coaching courses. And the striker is already in possession of a CAF C license.
“I had a very good relationship with him. To be honest, he is one of the people that have made me go and do my coaching licenses,” Majoro told FARPost.
“He has been supportive. Folz made it known to me that if I struggle with anything during my studies of being a coach, he is just a call away.
“And I have been in touch with him on numerous occasions in terms of understanding certain things in terms of coaching.”
Majoro further revealed that Folz was firm despite the age difference with some senior players in the team.
“Just like any other coach, he is hard-working, punctual maybe because he is still young in terms of age. “Every coach has his philosophy and all they want is for you to buy into it.
“Don’t be fooled by his small stature and age, he can be strict when he wants. He can be, he can put his foot down and I think everyone was respectful towards him.
“As a footballer, you are supposed to respect because he is the head of the team. The senior players of the team were working hand in hand with him to have everything done well,” Majoro added.
WHAT FOLZ SAID ABOUT MAJORO’S COACHING ASPIRATIONS
Folz expresses strong support for Majoro’s coaching career, stating they discussed the possibility of Major joining the AmaZulu staff. The Frenchman describes Major as ‘smart, disciplined, professional’ and an asset to any team.
“I’m very happy to help and assist Major in his coaching licences,” Folz told FARPost. “We often chat about football, and he asks me about specific coaching details.
“He’s a great man and it was a pleasure to have him as my player. In fact, in the eventuality of my continuing at AmaZulu, we discussed the possibility of him joining the staff.
“I brought and supported that idea. He is smart, disciplined, and professional. Someone you want to have with you.”
