Kaizer Chiefs figure sends message to overlooked Samkelo Zwane
Overlooked Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Samkelo Zwane has received a glimmer of hope in the form of a heartening message.
The academy graduate has struggled for game time this season, both under former coach Molefi Ntsheki and interim coach Calvin Johnson.
The talented midfielder broke into the Chiefs senior team last season under coach Arthur Zwane. This was after showcasing impressive displays with the reserve team in the DStv Diski Challenge.
The skilful Zwane made his PSL debut in a league match against Stellenbosch FC. In the current campaign, the 22-year-old has spent most of the time on the bench. The promising SA Under-23 star has seen limited action, with only eight appearances and no starts in the current campaign.
The intense competition for central midfield spots, with players like Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Siyethemba Sithebe, and Edson Castillo vying for minutes, makes it difficult for Zwane to break into the starting lineup.
A WARM GESTURE OF SUPPORT: WHAT IS KEMISO MOTAUNG’S MESSAGE TO SAMKELO ZWANE?
Zwane shared a post on Instagram and Chiefs head of digital Kemiso Motaung responded to the post.
“No matter what, the love for the game stays the same,” Zwane wrote.
In a reply, Motaung wrote, “Hang in there keep on so you are ready when it’s time. We are right behind you!”
With five matches left to conclude the season, Zwane will be aiming to get some game time as the Soweto giants aim to cement their place in the top eight.
These matches will be against rival Mamelodi Sundowns, TS Galaxy, AmaZulu FC, Polokwane City FC and Cape Town Spurs.
