Two DStv Prem clubs eye signature of Casric Stars midfielder
Two DStv Premiership clubs are eyeing the signature of Casric Stars midfielder Tabiso Mpame as the July transfer window looms.
Mpame proved his qualities in a few appearances he made for Casric Stars in the first round of the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The attacking midfielder joined Stars ahead of the current campaign from Cape Town Spurs. He was part of the CT Spurs team that gained promotion to the DStv Premiership via the PSL Promotional Playoffs last season.
Since his arrival at Casric last year, Mpame has made nine appearances in the NFD. Despite only playing a handful of games, he has done enough to be impressive, and clubs in the SA’s top flight have expressed interest in him.
THE TWO CLUBS INTERESTED IN THABISO MPAME REVEALED
The 27-year-old is on the wishlist of Chippa United and Moroka Swallows, who were looking to sign him during the 2023 January transfer window.
Mpame was training with the Chilli Boys in January, looking to make a switch to the Premiership. However, Casric could not release his transfer clearance. The former Cape Town All Stars winger is yet to feature for the Mpumalanga-based side in 2024.
“There is a serious interest in Tabiso Mpame from Moroka Swallows and Chippa United. At some point, the boy was training at Chippa, but the clearance was a problem,” a source told FARPost.
“I’m not surprised that there’s interest in Mpame; he’s a very good player who can play as a central midfielder, winger, and attacking midfielder.
“The boy only joined Casric Stars at the start of the season and it took him only a few games to be noticed by DStv Premiership clubs.
“So, at the moment, the player is just hopeful that his dream move to the top league will happen at the end of the season.”
