What Tico-Tico Bucuane thinks of Edmilson Dove’s stint at Chiefs
Ex-Jomo Cosmos striker Tico-Tico Bucuane has shared his assessment of how he thinks his countryman Edmilson Dove has performed at Kaizer Chiefs.
Dove is in his second and last season of his initial two-year deal at Chiefs since joining from Cape Town City.
As reported by FARPost, Chiefs look set to be considering triggering the two-year option on his contract.
HAS EDMILSON DOVE DONE ENOUGH TO SECURE A NEW CONTRACT AT KAIZER CHIEFS?
Bucuane was asked if he believed the 29-year-old had done enough to secure another deal at Amakhosi.
“He has been playing regularly, so you don’t play regularly if he is not performing,” Bucuane told FARPost. “But again it’s up to the coach or up to the team and the plans they have for next season in terms of what kind of players they need. We must not forget that Chiefs are a struggling team at the moment.
“But I believe he has shown his quality. So he has done his work, now it’s time for management, and the coaches to decide if they still want him to continue. But I think he has done all he could do,” he said.
TICO-TICO BUCUANE IMPRESSED WITH THE PERFORMANCES OF HIS COUNTRYMAN
The former Jomo Cosmos striker says there has been a huge improvement in Dove’s game since his move to Amakhosi.
“He had to step up playing for Kaizer Chiefs. It’s not the same as playing for a smaller side,” he said.
“There is a lot of pressure playing at that level and then you have to deliver every week. So I think he came up to space and showed his character and he grew with time.
“He is quality and can play at different positions at the back and he can even play in the midfield when he is needed. He did that when he was still in Mozambique. I rate him very much, and yeah, he has shown that. He played in the last AFCON and he didn’t do so badly.”
