Richards Bay FC star targets big three to earn Bafana call-up

A Richards Bay FC star has openly shared his Bafana Bafana ambitions, setting his targets on the big three of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The player in question made a name for himself when he came through the development ranks at Bidvest Wits in 2015. After signing a first-team contract, he struggled to break into the starting lineup.

The 27-year-old attacker left the now-defunct Bidvest Wits on a free transfer to join AmaZulu FC in July 2017.

Somila Ntsundwana featured in 20 appearances across all competitions for Usuthu, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

His struggles in front of goal at AmaZulu saw him go out on loan to Royal Eagles in 2019 before he left the following year to join Richards Bay FC permanently.

The Eastern Cape-born utility player spent two seasons in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Bay and helped the team gain promotion to the top flight in the 2022/23 campaign.

NTSUNDWANA DREAMS OF BIG MOVE TO BOOST THE BAFANA CHANCES

Ntsundwana, who has netted six goals and contributed three assists in 62 matches KZN-based side, says playing for one of the big three teams in SA will help him to get a Bafana Bafana call-up.

“It’s every player’s dream to join the big three because, at the same time, there’s recognition from the national team,” Ntsundwana said when asked about his ambitions.

“So I think we plan my brother, but God decides; at the moment, I’m just accepting God’s blessings of putting me at Richards Bay, and if he feels that I’m ready to go to the big three, then I’ll go.

“I can never say that I want to go next season and I can never say that they must look for me, if God says yes nobody can say no.”

Meanwhile, Somila Ntsundwana will be looking to help Richards Bay move out of the relegation zone with four games remaining before the season ends.

The Natal Rich Boys are currently 15th in the league table with 23 points, five points away from Royal AM, who are 14th with 29 points.
