Stanton Fredericks’ message to Pirates starlet Mofokeng

Retired Kaizer Chiefs star Stanton Fredericks has shared a special message with Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng.

Mofokeng’s stellar display for Pirates has been the talk of the town this season, with his consistent brilliance leaving a lasting impression on the Happy People faithful.

The 19-year-old has been a key player for the Sea Robbers. In the current campaign, the talented attacker has scored four goals and provided six assists in 33 matches in all competitions.

A product of the prestigious School of Excellence, Mofokeng is among the frontrunners for the Young DStv Premiership Player of the Season award.

WHAT STANTON FREDRICKS SAID ABOUT RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG?

‘Stigga’ says the Pirates starlet needs to be physically strong and gain stamina so he can maintain his great form and consistent performances.

“I’m not advising, but when I see him, I will tell him. He needs to get stronger,” Fredricks told FARPost.

“He will get in within SA, he will kill people [dribble], but if he’s going to make the next gem to Europe he needs to get stronger.

“I was an average-sized player in SA, but when I went to Europe, I was small. So what do you do? You get stronger, you hit the gym, eat right and build on that strength. When you go to the national team, and you come up against a big West African counterpart, you should stand on your own. So that’s what I would love for him to do now.”

Fredricks is happy that Mofokeng is having his fair chance with Pirates, adding that he’s got attributes like himself, Jabu Mahlangu, Teko Modise, and Siphiwe Tshabalala.

“Young Relebohile Mofokeng, we speaking of myself, we speaking of Jabu Mahlangu and Teko Modise and Shabba.

“When you get the ball, the crowd has an expectation, the crowd goes wild. We haven’t had that in SA football, now when the boy gets the ball there’s an expectation,” he added.
