PSL clubs chasing Richards Bay FC goalkeeper Salim Magoola

Richards Bay FC goalkeeper Salim Magoola is finding himself at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war, with several PSL clubs vying for his signature.

FARPost has gathered that there will be some stiff competition for the services of Magoola. The goalie is in his second last season of a two-year deal with DStv Premiership side Richards Bay. The club also has an open option to renegotiate with Magoola when his contract comes to an end in June.

The Ugandan international joined Richards Bay in 2022 from Motsepe Foundation championship side Pretoria Callies. He impressed in his first season with 12 clean sheets in the DStv Premiership and grabbed a PSL goalkeeper of the season nomination.

RICHARDS BAY TO LOSE THEIR NUMBER ONE AT THE END OF THE SEASON?

As FARPost reported in December last year, Magoola was offered to Kaizer Chiefs by Richards Bay. However, the Soweto Giants could not sign the player due to the foreign quota.

The ‘Natal Rich Boyz’ are currently embroiled in a relegation battle with four matches remaining. While they are certain of avoiding automatic relegation, the club could be in danger of saving their status via the PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoffs.

Losing the status could also mean the club will lose some of its best players, including Magoola.

STIFF COMPETITION FROM DSTV PREMIERSHIP CLUBS FOR RICHARDS BAY GOALKEEPER?

This publication has established that four DStv Premiership clubs are monitoring the players’ situation at Richards Bay, including Kaizer Chiefs.

Other clubs that have reportedly shown interest in the 28-year-old are SuperSport United, Chippa United, and Royal AM. However, this will depend on the club’s future in the elite league in the next few games.

Richards Bay will travel to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium to take on Polokwane City on Wednesday, 8 May. They currently trail Moroka Swallows and Royal AM, who are third and fourth from the bottom by six points.
