‘Nothing unusual about Jamie Webber’s lack of game time’ – Seema

Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has played down suggestions that midfielder Jamie Webber’s lack of game time has something to do with his recent outburst after being taken off.

Webber last featured for Sekhukhune during the 0-0 draw against TS Galaxy in a league tie at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane

It was in the same match that Webber reacted angrily after being substituted in the 37th minute. He snubbed coach Seema and walked straight down to the dressing room.

The 26-year-old has missed DStv Premiership matches against SuperSport United and Polokwane City after the incident. He has also been linked with a move to Cape Town City FC.

“There are a lot of players that are not in the team and we always do the technical changes,” explained Seema. “It’s only that people are talking about that one because he was unhappy when he went out. But that one [incident] we spoke about it. He understood why he came out, and we moved on.

“You will see Webber in the next matches, and there is nothing wrong; it’s just that today [Saturday against Polokwane City FC], we opted for guys that were in the team today,” added Seema.

Meanwhile, Seema has also reacted to the club going four matches without a win. They remain fourth on the log with two matches remaining.

“I am not worried. You just mentioned that without a win, but how many points? We didn’t lose the matches. Guys, we must check that these guys are working. They are trying hard, and today, we didn’t win the match, but we got a point.

“There are teams that didn’t win at all, and they are coming back with zero. So I will always appreciate the efforts of the players because they are doing their best in rather difficult circumstances, which, as this team, we have played a lot of games this season.”
