Skudu Makudubela attracts PSL interest ahead of Yanga’s end-of-contract

Skilful winger, Mahlatse ‘Skudu’ Makudubela, has drawn interest from a PSL club ahead of his contract expiration at Tanzanian giants Young Africans.

Makudubela joined Timu ya Wananchi on a free transfer at the beginning of this season after parting ways with Marumo Gallants following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Despite being relegated in the same season, Marumo Gallants enjoyed an impressive run in the CAF Confederation Cup, reaching the semi-finals before being eliminated by Yanga.

Makudubela shone for Gallants in the Confederation Cup, attracting the attention of Yanga.

Interestingly, the Dar es Saalam-based side also missed out on signing Ranga Chivaviro, another player who was a standout performer for the Limpopo outfit in the Confederation Cup, scoring seven goals in the competition. Moreover, he also rattled in ten goals in the DStv Premiership.

Moreover, Makudubela reportedly snubbed Moroka Swallows for Yanga switch, citing his desire to win trophies. “If you wanna win cups, you know birds of the same feather flock together,” he told FARPost after his move last year.

However, the 34-year-old has struggled somewhat to earn a place in the regular starting line-up.

FARPost understands that Yanga is unlikely to retain the former Orlando Pirates man for next season.

WHICH PSL CLUB IS KEEPING TABS ON MAKUDUBELA

According to a reliable source, newly promoted Magesi FC are keeping tabs on Makudubela as they aim to bolster their squad ahead of their debut season in the DStv Premiership starting in three months.

The winger would come in with huge experience, having also turned out for Platinum Stars, Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates, Chippa United, Highlands and University of Pretoria.

Magesi’s promotion was confirmed last week when they beat Milford 3-1 at home. They won the league title with two games to spare.
