Sukazi gives major update on Samir Nurkovic’s TS Galaxy future
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has given a major update on the future of their striker Samir Nurkovic, whose contract expires in June.
The 31-year-old signed for the Rockets on a free transfer in September last year. He penned a short-term contract with the option to extend for a further year.
This was after he was unattached for almost a year. The Serbian forward was released by Royal AM in October 2022, leaving the club without a single appearance. ‘Kokota Piano’, as he’s well-known, quickly established himself as a talisman for Galaxy, scoring ten goals in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR SAMIR NURKOVIC?
Recognising the impact of the former Kaizer Chiefs man, the club has triggered one more year option on the striker’s contract, Sukazi confirmed to FARPost.
“Nurkovic, we have already extended his contract,” said Sukazi.
Meanwhile, Higor Vidal and Bernard Parker will also be out of contracts at the end of the season. Vidal joined at the beginning of the campaign. And just like Nurkovic, he inked a one-year deal and an option to extend for one year.
He has made a significant impact for coach Sead Ramovic’s team, contributing two goals and seven assists in 22 matches.
Parker, on the other hand, enjoyed a strong start to the season but suffered a potentially career-ending leg-breaking injury in a Carling Knockout Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns, inflicted by Bongani Zungu.
The 36-year-old recently returned to action but has only managed eight appearances across all competitions this season.
The Mpumalanga-based side is fifth on the log standings with 40 points after 27 games. They are left with three league fixtures this season against Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City.
