ES Tunis share spoils with Percy Tau’s Al Ahly in Champions League final

ES Tunis were held to a 0-0 draw by Percy Tau’s Al Ahly in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final at Rades Stadium on Saturday night.

The 2023/24 Champions League final will be played in a two-legged fixture [home and away].

Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau was in Al Ahly’s starting eleven for the Champions League final first leg against ES Tunis.

Tau played for 90 minutes as his side settled for a goalless draw in the first leg at Rades Stadium.

So far, ES Tunis have won the CAF Champions League on four occasions, with the most recent coming in 2019 when the Tunisian side won back-to-back titles.

As per CAF statistics, the two teams have met 23 times in this tournament, with the Red Devils leading the head-to-head 10-8.

Back in 2018, the Tunisian outfit got the better of the Egyptian side 4-3 on aggregate in the tournament’s final.

SECOND LEG SET FOR NEXT WEEKEND

The second leg between the two sides will be played on Saturday 25 May 2024. The game will take place at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.

Al Ahly will be hoping to make use of their home-ground advantage to get the better of the Tunisian side.
