Duncan Lechesa makes honest admission about his future at Venda FC
Venda Football Club coach Duncan Lechesa has opened up about his future at the club following the completion of the Motsepe Foundation Championship season. Lechesa has been at the helm since taking over from coach Joel Masutha in November last year.
This is after he had left DStv Premiership side Polokwane City where he had been co-coach alongside Lehlohonolo Seema. Lechesa guided the club out of relegation and finished in position 12.
WHAT COACH DUNCAN LECHESA SAID ABOUT HIS FUTURE AT VENDA FOOTBALL CLUB
When asked about whether he will be continuing with the Limpopo side next season, Lechesa said it all depends on the club management.
“I don’t know, but I would like to stay with the team,” he told reporters.
“It’s up to the Chairman and the board. But I would like to stay with the team. Let me also once again thank Mr Ramaite and Munzhelele. They took me when things are tough from my operation so I think I need to repay them,” he said.
PSL COACH GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT AFTER SPENDING TIME IN THE HOSPITAL DUE TO ILL HEALTH
The 47-year-old also reflected on the time he spent in the Hospital and acknowledged the support from his family and the club.
“Every season when you start you want to win promotion. So yes, it was tough when I came. The team didn’t do well, it was a time when I had just recovered from an illness. But I made it and thanks to everyone especially my wife and the family.
“We survived a long time ago. It was just time to close with a good season. We tried to win the game, but relegation was never in our minds. If there were five games left you would see a different team.”
