Etiosa Ighodaro comments on Club Brugge links

On loan, SuperSport United forward Etiosa Ighodaro has commented on being linked with a potential move to a European side, Club Brugge.

The 22-year-old striker joined Matsatsantsa on a season-long from cross-town rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at the beginning of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign.

So far, Ighodaro has featured in 33 games across all competitions for SuperSport, scoring eight goals and weighing in with two assists in the process.

Before moving to the Gavin Hunt-coached side, he spent the 2022/23 term on loan at Chippa United. He managed to score 11 during his stint with Chilli Boys.

He also had a loan spell with AmaTuks during the 21/22 season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

ETIOSA IGHODARO ON CLUB BRUGGE INTEREST

Last month, news emerged that the Nigerian-born frontman has attracted the interest of the Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge, as his loan spell at SuperSport is coming to an end.

In an interview with FARPost, Ighodaro noted that he is aware of the rumours but said no concrete offer has been made.

“Yeah, you know, when there’s interest, a club must come table an offer. There are a lot of rumours going on now,” Ighodaro told this publication.

“But when a team is actually serious, you will see it from the side. Not just rumours and headlines. They will make a move.”

The talented goalscorer reflected on his stay at SuperSport, citing that it wasn’t a bad season according to the minutes he played and his contributions.

“SuperSport United, it’s a great club, you know. According to the minutes I have played, I wouldn’t say it was a bad season for me at the club,” he added.

“And the contributions thereof. I would say it was an okay season for me so far.”
