Magesi FC owner addresses home stadium issue

Magesi FC boss Solly Makhubela has addressed where the club is likely to host its home matches next season as work to get the Seshego Stadium gets underway. The club was recently promoted to the DStv Premiership after just two seasons since returning from the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.

The club has been utilising the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium which they share with Polokwane City

There have been talks that they intend to take their home matches closer to their supporters at Seshego Stadium. However, that facility doesn’t currently meet the PSL requirements.

Makhubela has since confirmed that the first two options for them will be the Old Peter Mokaba and Seshego if it’s ready on time.

WHERE WILL NEWLY PROMOTED MAGESI FC HOST THEIR HOME MATCHES NEXT SEASON?

“We are still waiting for a response from different Municipalities in Limpopo. But there is currently a proposal to use the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium and Seshego Stadium. There was also [an option] for Malamulele.

“But we are waiting for the municipalities to see which one can suit the management and the technical team. The New Peter Mokaba Stadium will be used to host the bigger teams like Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns.”

SOLLY MAKHUBELA COMFORTABLE WITH HIS TEAM PLAYING AT ANY STADIUM IN LIMPOPO

“It is very difficult to say which stadium I prefer. Since the club was started in 2011, they have been playing at different venues. They played in Thohoyandou in different leagues. The team also played in Malamulele and Capricorn District as well. So we have a lot of supporters and any Stadium that can be filled up by supporters, I am okay as long as it’s in Limpopo.”

Meanwhile, the Polokwane Municipality has also confirmed to FARPost that they targeted the end of the year to complete the Seshego Stadium.

“The Seshego stadium is planned to be completed before the end of the year 2024,” said the manager responsible for Sport and Recreation Manhlako Sebaka.

“The municipality has not yet completed an agreement with the team in terms of partnership. However, that should be concluded before the beginning of the season

“We are elated to have Magesi FC, a team that hails from Moletjie, making the local people proud. We can only stand tall beaming with delight for our city and the people of Limpopo Province.”
