Agent reveals stance on Samkelo Zwane’s situation at Chiefs

Prosport International CEO Mike Makaab has revealed his stance on sidelined Samkelo Zwane’s situation at Kaizer Chiefs.

The highly-rated midfielder has struggled for game-time in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season. Zwane couldn’t break into the starting line-up under Molefi Ntseki who started the current season as the Chiefs head coach.

Following a run of inconsistent results, Ntseki was fired after just three months at the helm and he was replaced by the interim coach Cavin Johnson.

The change in personnel in the technical team didn’t change Zwane’s fortunes at the Soweto giants as he only made eight appearances across all competitions.

Chiefs have preferred Edson Castillo, Yusuf Maart, and Sibongiseni Mthethwa in the holding midfield role.

Meanwhile, Zwane is in his second season with the Amakhosi senior team after being promoted from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side in the 2022/23 campaign.

Last season under the guidance of Arthur Zwane, the 22-year-old made 15 appearances in all competitions.

Several media reports emerged, suggesting that Chiefs are planning on loaning out Zwane to get more game-time.

His agent, Makaab, says they are yet to engage the Glamour Boys on the future of Zwane, but they will hold talks at the end of the season.

“We have not discussed Samkelo Zwane’s future with Kaizer Chiefs as yet. We are waiting for the season to end to have those conversations.” Makaab told FARPost.

In addition, Chiefs have a handful of players who will see their respective contracts expire in June 2024. Sfiso Hlanti, Siyethemba Sithebe, Njabulo Ngcobo, Itumeleng Khune, George Matlou, and, Edmilson Dove are the players whose contracts are expiring.
