AmaTuks goalkeeper Maova on the radar of two DStv Premiership clubs

AmaTuks goalkeeper Edward Maova is on the radar of two DStv Premiership clubs following his impressive season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Maova signed for the ambitious Pretoria-based side at the start of the 2023/24 season from rivals Pretoria Callies. He’s in his second stint with the Tlisane Motaung-coached team. His maiden stint with The Students was in 2018 and 2019.

The 29-year-old has led from the front in Tuks’ fight for promotion to the Premiership, featuring in 26 games.

While AmaTuks were beaten to automatic promotion by Magesi FC, they qualified for the promotion/relegation playoffs after finishing the season as runners-up.

Interestingly, Maova was also part of the Namibia national team that participated at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this year.

A source close to the developments told FARPost that SuperSport United are one of the clubs that enquired about the goal-minder’s availability.

“There are two teams that have been asking about Maova. SuperSport is one of the clubs that have shown interest in the goalkeeper,” a source said.

“I think this has always been coming when you look at how this goalkeeper has been performing this season.

“But I think the game that got him a lot of attention was the Nedbank Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns. He had a very good performance in that match hence it was decided on penalties.

“Another thing is that he was at the Africa Cup of Nations with Namibia. That paints a picture of his qualities as a goalkeeper.

“If the offers are solid and make business sense, I’m sure the club will be ready to give him their blessings. They never stand in the way of players who want a new challenge.”
