Sundowns one game away from completing an invincible DStv Prem season

Mamelodi Sundowns extended their unbeaten run to 29 games in the DStv Premiership following their 1-1 draw with TS Galaxy as they look to accomplish a feat that hasn’t been achieved in the PSL era – go the entire season without losing a game.

This showdown took place at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Tuesday night.

The Rockets were the first side to break the deadlock in the 78th minute of the game through Puso Dithejane. However, Peter Shalulile levelled matters in the 85th minute.

Below are the talking points from this game.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ FORM AWAY FROM HOME

Following their goalless draw with TS Galaxy this evening, Masandawana are now unbeaten in 27 away games in the DStv Premiership since September 2022. This is a new PSL record for unbeaten away games.

In those 27 unbeaten away matches, the Rulani Mokwena-coached side managed to win 19 and drew eight in the process.

ONE GAME AWAY FROM BEING INVINCIBLES

The Chloorkop-based side are now one game away from achieving their invincible dream in the SA top flight.

In fact, Masandawana are yet to taste a defeat in the DStv Premiership this season. The red-hot Sundowns are the first PSL team to go unbeaten in their first 29 games of the league this campaign.

Sundowns are now 627 days without a loss, the last time the Downs suffered a league match defeat was on 2 September 2022 when they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to SuperSport United.
