Chiefs, Pirates & Downs stars to miss DStv Premiership final day matches
DStv Premiership top teams Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns will have to do without some of their stars on the final day of the season.
The 2023/24 campaign will be concluded on Saturday, 25 May and all matches will be played at the same time, 3 pm.
Sundowns have already won the league title which is their seventh in a row, whilst Cape Town Spurs were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship following a poor run.
WHICH BIG 3 PLAYERS ARE SUSPENDED FOR THE DSTV PREM FINAL DAY MATCHES
Masandawana will be without Marcelo Allende and Sphelele Mkhulise when they play Cape Town City FC at Loftus Versveld. Allende picked up four yellow cards. This was against Orlando Pirates and TS Galaxy in the league. Then he was booked against NB La Masia and AmaTuks in the Nedbank Cup.
Like Allende, Mkhulise also reached the four-card threshold with bookings in the MTN8 final against Pirates, league matches against CT Spurs and two cards against TS Galaxy.
Allende has played an important role for the Tshwane giants this season. He has played 43 matches in all competitions, scored four goals and provided six assists. On the other hand, Mkhulise has made 24 appearances in all competitions, registering two assists this campaign.
Pirates will be without experienced Nkosinathi Sibisi when they host SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium. The Bafana Bafana international is on suspension after he was cautioned on four occasions.
He was booked in matches against Chippa United, CT City FC, CT Spurs and TS Galaxy. Sibisi has played 24 games in all competitions this season.
Chiefs centre-back Edmilson Dove will miss the trip to already relegated CT Spurs. The 29-year-old was shown yellow cards against CT City FC, Richards Bay FC, Sekhukhune United and SuperSport United. This season Dove played 18 matches in all competitions and scored one goal.
OTHER PLAYERS SUSPENDED IN THE DSTV PREMIERSHIP
Other players who will miss the last matches of the season for their respective clubs are CT City’s Marc Van Heerden and Aprocius Petrus. Sibusiso Mthethwa will be missing for Richards Bay FC, while CT Spurs will have to do without Gadiel Kamagi and Liam Ben.
The trio of Marks Munyai, Mpho Mvelase and Puso Dithejane will be unavailable for selection for TS Galaxy, whereas Ayanda Jiyana will miss the Royal AM encounter.
