Miguel Gamondi’s take on Aziz Ki’s transfer speculation

Yanga SC’s head coach, Miguel Gamondi, has opened up about the transfer speculation surrounding star midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki.

The Burkina Faso international’s sensational performances in the CAF Champions League have attracted attention from numerous clubs, including Orlando Pirates.

Gamondi expressed his delight in Aziz Ki’s exceptional form this season, highlighting the player’s impressive tally of 16 league goals, making him the top scorer in the Tanzania Premier League.

The coach revealed his belief in Aziz Ki’s potential. “When I got here, we started working together, and I told him I would make him score goals,” he told FARPost. This faith has clearly paid off, as Aziz Ki’s contributions have been instrumental in Yanga SC’s third consecutive title win.

Despite the growing interest from other clubs, Gamondi remains supportive of Aziz Ki’s future. “I’m not afraid that I’d lose Aziz Ki to another team. If he can get a better contract or a better club, I will be very happy for him because I love him. I took him like my kid,” he said. Gamondi’s admiration for Aziz Ki’s talent is evident, describing him as a “very nice boy” who deserves success.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by Yanga SC following the departure of key players and staff, Gamondi emphasised the need for reinvention. Timu ya Wananchi lost top scorer Fiston Mayele and head coach Nasreddine Nabi at the end of last season.

Gamondi views Aziz Ki as a unique and indispensable asset. “I want to have Aziz in my team. I would love to have Aziz in all my teams I coach because he has this talent. He can win one game singlehandedly. You can’t find a player like that.”

As transfer rumours continue to circulate, Gamondi’s words provide insight into the close relationship he shares with Aziz Ki, highlighting the mutual respect and admiration between coach and player. The future remains uncertain for Aziz Ki, but Gamondi’s unwavering support and belief in his potential are undeniable.
