Thabo September comments on Goodman Mosele’s future at Chippa

Chippa United co-coach Thabo September has shed light on the future of midfielder Goodman Mosele at the Chilli Boys.

The Bafana Bafana international, Mosele, joined Chippa on a season-long loan from Orlando Pirates at the beginning of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign.

The 24-year-old footballer had decent displays in the Chilli Boys’ colours, having featured in 25 games across all competitions, and contributed one goal.

Mosele’s good performances were rewarded with a Bafana Bafana call-up in March 2024, making a return to the national team after a three-year absence.

THABO SEPTEMBER ON WHETHER GOODMAN MOSELE WILL STAY AT CHIPPA UNITED

Following their 1-0 defeat to Sekhukhune United at Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday afternoon, September revealed that it’s up to the management of the club whether they negotiate with Pirates again to bring Mosele back to the club.

“I just spoke about Mosele now in terms of him getting injured now and us having a seventh run with no win. So, that’s how crucial he is to the team,” said September.

“He is a very important part of this football club as much as he is on loan. But that is up to the management. So, we must look at what if he doesn’t return.

“We need to start thinking beyond him since he is a loanee player and you can’t really think about him in the next season. We have to wait for the team to talk with the other club of Mosele and then make a decision.”

‘WE HAVE TO START PLANNING ABOUT LIFE WITHOUT MOSELE’

September continued: “But we have to start planning about life without Mosele. If he comes back, then he comes back. But he is very crucial and a great player. He made us play when Sinoxolo Kwayiba was not around.

“There is a lot once a player goes, there is a kind of a big gap between the players and the player that replaces the other player, the quality drops a bit. So, we need to improve on that and bring the players to the same level so that when there are suspensions, you can still take the team with the same momentum going forward.”

Chippa finished the season in position 12 with 34 points from 30 outings. This is one of the better seasons as the side didn’t find themselves fighting for the relegation zone.
