Mike Makaab clarifies Olisa Ndah’s contract situation at Pirates

Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, veteran agent Mike Makaab has addressed the speculation surrounding Olisa Ndah’s contract situation at Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers finished the season as runners-up in the league after Mamelodi Sundowns were crowned Champions for the seventh successive campaign.

Pirates won 14 games in the Premiership, drawing eight while losing eight times in 30 matches. They collected 50 points.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants have also won the 2023 MTN8 title early in the season after beating Sundowns on penalties at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Interestingly, Pirates and Sundowns face off again in Saturday’s final of the 2024 Nedbank Cup. Mbombela Stadium will host the much-anticipated final.

WHAT’S THE CONTRACT SITUATION OF OLISA NDAH AT ORLANDO PIRATES?

While multiple media outlets have reported that Ndah’s contract is expiring in June 2024, Makaab has clarified that the star defender has two years left on his current agreement with the Buccaneers.

Ndah has been at Pirates for three seasons after signing a five-year deal from Nigerian side Akwa United in 2021.

Last year, the 26-year-old centre-back was on the radar of Italian giants Sassuolo. However, the deal couldn’t materialise due to an injury.

Speaking to FARPost, Makaab said: “Olisa Ndah has another two left years to run on the existing contract. It’s not an option that has been taken. The current contract has two years [left].”

Ndah has featured 23 times across all competitions. He has shared defensive responsibilities with Tapelo Xoki, Thabiso Sesane, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Sandile Mthethwa, and Innocent Maela.

Despite struggling with injury setbacks in the first round of the season, the ambidextrous star has proven to be a regular starter whenever he’s fit.
