Stellenbosch FC’s departing Nhlanhla Mgaga linked with KZN club
Nhlanhla Mgaga, who’s reportedly facing the exit door at Stellenbosch FC, has emerged as a target for a KZN club.
Mgaga was a regular feature for the Western Cape side this season, playing a pivotal role in the success of the club. He featured in 37 matches across all competitions.
With his contract expiring at the end of June, he is set to depart the club after a two-year stint.
Mgaga signed for Stellies at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign on a free transfer after parting ways with Baroka FC following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Leaving for free means his next club wouldn’t have to pay to acquire his services.
NHLANHLA MGAGA ON THE WISH LIST OF AMAZULU
FARPost understands AmaZulu FC have been the long-time admirers of Mgaga and the club remains interested in bringing the 28-year-old on board ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The Durban-based club has yet to make any official player movements. And Usuthu are facing tough decisions with more than ten players out of contract at the end of the season.
As previously reported by this website, they are set to part ways with their centre-back Veluyeke Zulu who had joined the club in 2022 from Chippa United.
They could also have to go into the next season without their trusted left-back Riaan Hanamub who’s on the radar of Orlando Pirates.
The Namibian defender has been a target for the Buccaneers since last season. And with Paseka Mako and Innocent Maela struggling with injuries, this has intensified their pursuit of another left-back.
Meanwhile, Usuthu are reportedly opting to retain Hendrick Ekstein, who has been their key player this season.
