Thalente Mbatha breaks silence on his future

Orlando Pirates star player Thalente Mbatha has broken his silence about what the future holds for him when the season ends.

Mbatha who is on loan from another DStv Premiership side SuperSport United linked up with the Soweto giants in the January transfer window. His deal at the club expires when the current campaign is concluded, however, Pirates have the option to sign him permanently.

His loan move to the Bucs came as a surprise because he wasn’t a key player for Matsatsantsa this campaign. For the Tshwane side, Mbatha struggled for game time only making five appearances.

Things took a positive turn for the 24-year-old when he joined the Bucs. He started getting some minutes and has become one of the key players for the team. All-in-all for Pirates, the midfielder has played 15 times, scored one goal and provided two assists in the process.

Mbatha says at the moment he’s still in the dark about what will happen to him when the season ends. He further added that he will know about his future when the season is concluded.

“At the moment, I don’t have an idea of what [my future] looks like. I will only hear when the season ends. I would like to win awards with the team,” Mbatha told journalists.

“For me, it was like improving myself in every game, so I was playing every game like it’s a cup final, where it will determine my future with the team and everything.

“I think it’s a journey that has been competitive and healthy, thanks to the guys for keeping the competition up.

“If you take training seriously, it will apply itself in the match, I think I need to improve and learn as a player.”
