Agent gives new developments on Hanamub’s future, responds to Pirates rumours

Charles Domingos, the agent of AmaZulu FC’s Riaan Hanamub has given the newest update on the future of the left-back at the club and commented on the Orlando Pirates rumours.

The contract of the Namibian defender will run out at the end of the 2023/24 PSL season but AmaZulu hold an option to extend for a further year.

The Namibian defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Buccaneers since last season, but he ultimately remained with the Durban-based side. The left-footer has been an integral member of the squad for the past two seasons he has spent at the club.

Hanamub signed for the KZN outfit in 2022 from Chippa United and has made 66 appearances, scoring one goal and registering six assists.

The club appears keen to retain him for the 2024/25 season.

Domingos has revealed that Usuthu have indicated their intention to exercise the one-year option they have on the 29-year-old.

AMAZULU FC HAVE INDICATED THEY WANT TO EXERCISE ONE-YEAR OPTION ON RIAAN HANAMUB

“We spoke to them a month ago, and they indicated they want to exercise the one-year option,” Domingos told FARPost.

Meanwhile, the player’s representative admitted that the Soweto giants were interested in Hanamub last season.

However, he insisted there was nothing on his table from the Sea Robbers for now; therefore, the player was likely to remain at AmaZulu next season.

“Pirates wanted Riaan a long time ago, and now there’s nothing [from them].”

According to coach Pablo Franco Martin, more than ten players will be out of contract at AmaZulu at the end of June.

Hendrick Ekstein, Veluyeke Zulu, and Ben Motshwari are among those facing expiring deals.

FARPost has previously reported Zulu’s imminent departure, while Ekstein is reportedly set to stay. Motshwari’s future remains uncertain, with the club set to decide on their option to extend for one more year.
