Relebohile Mofokeng’s thoughts of his maiden Bafana call-up

Orlando Pirates’ young sensation Relebohile Mofokeng has reflected on his first call-up to the Bafana Bafana team for the upcoming Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

Mofokeng has been an exceptional and influential player for the Jose Riveiro team throughout this season, displaying remarkable skill and making a significant impact on the team’s performance.

The 19-year-old also scored the winning goal during the 2-1 win against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

Mofokeng’s form has been rewarded with a call-up by Hugo Broos for the key matches against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

“Obviously, we will meet the best players in the world. So just have to take advice from the senior players and hear what they say,” said Mofokeng.

“Then I will see what happens when I get there. I just have to do my job and take it from there. We just need to win, and then the rest will come.”

RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG ON WHERE HIS GAME HAS IMPROVED UNDER COACH JOSE RIVEIRO

Mofokeng has also opened up on where he believes his game has improved under Jose Riveiro this season.

“My marking has improved because that was the only thing I lacked in my game,” he explained.

‘Even the coach used to tell me that he was not playing me last season because I was not marking. I always wanted the ball on my feet.

“But now I can make runs and also go back and mark. So he talks to me and advises me on where to improve so that I can be a better player,” he added. “We finished in second spot. We won the Nedbank Cup and the Top eight, so it’s the best feeling. I am also happy about our performance as a team.

Regarding talks about a potential move to European clubs, Mofokeng says, “I don’t know anything about overseas interest. I am playing at Pirates, and that is where my focus is.

“If clubs show interest, they will talk to the Chairman; as for myself, I know nothing about it. I just play football at Pirates, and I don’t know anything else.”
