What Broos admires most about the current crop of Bafana stars
While underscoring the importance of a strong mindset in the Bafana Bafana set-up, Hugo Broos revealed what he admires most about his players.
The 72-year-old heaped praise on his players for their positive vibes, something he believes makes them thrive.
Bafana Bafana are scheduled to take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday in Uyo before returning home for the Southerner’s derby against Zimbabwe on June 11th in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Broos has set sights on at least accounting for four points from the two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. And what makes him more confident of achieving the desired goal is the telepathy between his players.
BROOS REVEALS WHAT HE ADMIRES IN THE BAFANA BAFANA SET-UP
The Belgian mentor revealed his admiration for how the players treat and relate to each other in the Bafana Bafana camp.
“That’s one key quality of this group. The way they treat each other and their mentality is fantastic. It’s one of the reasons why we did so good in the 2023 AFCON tournament. AFCON gave us a good boost of confidence because we did good performances.
“You see now also, the new guys are coming into the group and there is nothing changing. Next to quality of the player is the mentality, the mentality needs to be as important as the quality.
“A very good player with a bad mentality is terrible. We are also looking at a player’s quality, but what is his mentality?
“One or two players can ruin everything because of bad mentality. We have not been together for long, but you see how they eat together and talk with each other. The way they treat each other. Immediately, they adapt and they are received so well by the others. For me, as a coach, it’s fantastic to see that,” Broos added.
