DStv Prem side reignite interest in Keletso Makgalwa
A DStv Premiership team has reignited its interest in signing highly-rated Upington City FC attacker Keletso Makgalwa for the 2024/25 season.
In his debut season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Makgalwa has been in outstanding form for Upington City, delivering impressive performances on the field.
Makgalwa scored 11 goals in 23 appearances for Upington in the recently concluded NFD season, attracting interest from top-flight clubs.
The skilful winger joined the Northern Cape-based side in October 2023 on a free transfer after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.
During the January 2024 transfer window, teams like Richards Bay FC and Sekhukhune United inquired about signing Makgalwa. However, Upington City was not willing to sell as they were in the midst of a promotion battle to the Premiership at the time.
KELETSO MAKGALWA BACK IN DEMAND
With City finishing sixth in the second-tier log standings, Sekhukhune have rekindled their interest in the former SA junior international.
Babina Noko are expected to make a handful of changes to their squad for the 2024/25 campaign. They are expected to part ways with players such as Sibusiso Vilakazi, Edwin Gymah, Daniel Cardoso, Kgomotso Mosadi, and Collins Makgaka.
“Sekhukhune United have revisited their interest in Keletso Makgalwa who has been doing very well in the Motsepe Foundation Championship,” a source told FARPost.
“In the January transfer window, Sekhukhune were interested in signing Makgalwa but I guess no agreement could be reached at that time. So Sekhukhune are looking to intensify their approach to try and bring Makgalwa on board because he’s a player who’s really admired at the club.”
In October when Makgalwa joined Upington City, he signed a short-term contract which is set to expire on the 30th of June 2024.
