Mamelodi Sundowns make decision on Rivaldo Coetzee’s future

Mamelodi Sundowns have made a decision on the future of their utility player Rivaldo Coetzee whose contract runs out at the end of this season.

The Brazilians, aiming to further maintain themselves as a continental force and continue their local dominance, are doing their utmost to retain their best players.

The Tshwane giants have also their sights set on building a strong team for next year’s FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.

Masandawana recently extended the stay of their goalkeeper Ronwen Williams whose new deal will keep him at the club until June 2028.

While injuries have hampered Coetzee’s time at Sundowns, he’s been a key figure when fit to play.

The club had to consider various factors before making a call on his future as he is still 27 and has many years of valuable service to offer.

It also appears the club is open to offering the Kakamas-born a new deal with revised terms as time goes on.

Coetzee played a crucial role in helping Bafana Ba Style win the inaugural African Football League [AFL]. He played five of six matches in the competition.

Overall, the former Ajax Cape Town man played 29 matches across all competitions this season.

OTHER EXPIRING CONTRACTS AT SUNDOWNS

Meanwhile, Themba Zwane, Denis Onyango and Jody February are also out of contract.

According to the reports, Zwane, who’s the captain of the club, is close to extending his stay while the futures of the two shot-stoppers Onyango and February remain uncertain.

As previously reported by FARPost, SuperSport are interested in bringing back Onyango, who has seen limited playing time as Williams is preferred as the starting goalkeeper.
