Sibusiso Mabiliso attracts interest from PSL clubs after AmaZulu exit

Former South Africa youth international Sibusiso Mabiliso is reportedly on the radar of two DStv Premiership clubs following his exit from AmaZulu FC.

Mabiliso has been a free agent since leaving Usuthu during the January transfer window. The talented defender, known for his attacking prowess and pinpoint crossing ability, is eager to make a swift return to top-flight football.

Mabiliso stayed fit by training with a Motsepe Foundation Championship team. He then continued training independently after the second-tier season concluded.

“I’ve been keeping fit while waiting for my next opportunity to play in the DStv Premiership,” Mabiliso told FARPost in a recent interview. “I’m itching to get back onto the pitch, but I’ll be patient and wait for the right opportunity.”

After emerging as a promising talent at AmaZulu, he earned a high-profile move to Kaizer Chiefs in 2021. He had his best season under Benni McCarthy in the 2020/21 season, providing two assists.

That same season, the 25-year-old defender also played in the Tokyo Olympics and featured in an international friendly match between Bafana Bafana and Uganda. After the Olympics, he made a switch to Chiefs. However, his time at Naturena was marred by limited playing time, and he returned to AmaZulu on a free transfer in 2022.

Despite his recent struggles, Mabiliso’s pedigree as a youth international and his potential as a dynamic left-back have not gone unnoticed. Two PSL clubs – newly promoted Magesi FC and Richards Bay – are reportedly keen to secure his services, offering him a lifeline to reignite his career at the highest level.

Magesi are looking to beef up their squad with experience while Richards Bay are still fighting to maintain their top-flight status in the ongoing relegation/promotion playoffs.

Mabiliso’s decision on his next destination will be crucial as he looks to fulfil his potential and establish himself as a regular starter in the DStv Premiership. His determination to stay fit and his eagerness to return to action suggests that he is ready to seize his next opportunity with both hands.
