What the future holds for George Maluleka after AmaZulu FC exit

George Maluleka is currently looking for a new club after leaving AmaZulu FC, here is the latest update on the situation.

Usuthu announced the departure of the 35-year-old last week, ending his two-year stay at the club having signed from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2022.

Maluleka couldn’t cement his place in the middle of the park this season, starting only two of the 17 matches he played in the DStv Premiership [15] and Carling Knockout Cup [2].

Pablo Franco Martin appeared to be preferring Ethan Brooks and Ben Motshwari who made 32 and 25 appearances respectively.

Maluleka’s contract with Usuthu was going to expire at the end of June, however, there was an option to extend for a further year. But the two parties went their separate ways.

And as recently reported, the KZN club is eyeing SuperSport United’s Jesse Donn who could come in as a replacement for the Thembisa-born midfielder.

‘Mido’ left AmaZulu along with Veluyeke Zulu and Augustine Kwem who also saw their contracts expire.

UPDATE ON GEORGE MALULEKA’S SEARCH FOR A NEW CLUB

The player’s camp is currently in talks with more than one club in the DStv Premiership who are said to be interested in the services of the 35-year-old.

Maluleka came through the academy of the University of Pretoria and he spent one year with the senior team before he left for Ajax Cape Town in 2007.

Following a successful stint with the Urban Warriors, SuperSport United acquired his services in 2012. He spent only two years with the Tshwane side before switching to Kaizer Chiefs in 2014.

In what was a surprising move, Maluleka departed Kaizer Chiefs, his club for six years, to sign with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020. However, his time there was short-lived and not particularly fruitful. He only managed 19 appearances prior to heading down to Durban to join AmaZulu.
