Chippa United table offer for ex-Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder
Chippa United have tabled an offer to sign an ex-Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder ahead of the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.
The Chilli Boys are expected to make changes to their squad to improve on their 12th-place finish on the league table last season.
Chippa won eight matches in the league in the just-concluded season, drawing 10, losing 12 times, and collecting 34 points.
Meanwhile, Chippa United have already opened the exit door after parting ways with the technical director Morgan Mammila a few weeks ago. Mammila has since taken over the coaching role at Baroka FC on an interim basis from the suspended Dan Malesela.
CHIPPA UNITED SHOW INTEREST IN SIGNING KELETSO MAKGALWA
With the Gqeberha-based side already planning for the upcoming season, they have tabled an offer to sign Upington City FC attacker Keletso Makgalwa.
The talented ex-Sundowns midfielder had an impressive showing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Upington City after scoring 11 goals.
Makgalwa joined ‘Bafana Ba Gucci’ in October 2023 on a free transfer after parting company with Sundowns on mutual consent.
The former SA’s junior international is also linked with Sekhukhune United. Babina Noko tried to sign him during the January transfer window; however, the deal could not materialise.
“Makgalwa is wanted by several teams after the impressive season with Upington City in the NFD,” a source told FARPost.
“Chippa United have tabled an offer for Makgalwa to show their intent to bring him on board. But remember, Sekhukhune United is also after him.
“I mean, he could have ended up at Sekhukhune in January, but Upington City was not willing to sell. So don’t be surprised if Makgalwa end up signing with Sekhukhune United.”
It remains to be seen which team will win the race for Makgalwa’s signature when the transfer window opens in July.
