Tshediso Patjie opens up on his Moroka Swallows exit
Baroka FC midfielder Tshediso Patjie has opened up on what led to his departure at Moroka Swallows.
Patjie was amongst many other players who were shown the door at the club in January this year.
The players allegedly refused to partake in the DStv Premiership matches against Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns in December, leading to the club losing both games on walk-over.
Despite some players returning to the club, the 33-year-old was among the players who became a free agent.
HOW TSHEDISO PATJIE FEELS ABOUT HIS DEPARTURE AT MOROKA SWALLOWS
“With Swallows, there were just some issues about playing going on strike,” Patjie explained to FARPost.
“So when the players returned back to training I was told that I was being dismissed. That’s when I decided to come back to Baroka.
“We never boycott training. There was no such a thing. The issue was over outstanding payments,” he said.
Before his move to Swallows, Patjie spent a season at DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United. But prior to that, he made his name at Baroka, where he spent three seasons after a move from Mbombela United.
“I wanted to come back [to Baroka] because I could see there was a potential to gain promotion,” he explained.
BAROKA FC MIDFIELDER REMAINS HOPEFUL THAT THE CLUB CAN STILL SECURE PROMOTION
“That’s why we managed to reach the playoffs. So the aim is that we need to promote the team back to the DStv Premiership.
“There was no need to be convinced. I called the Chairman and asked him to return, and he never had a problem with that.”
Since his return, he has played in seven matches for Baroka. However, the midfielder missed the crucial PSL promotional/Relegation Playoffs match against the University of Pretoria on Wednesday due to flu.
