What Abha must do to lure Pitso Mosimane back after drop

Pitso Mosimane has discussed the condition necessary if he were to consider returning to Abha Club following a six-month stint that concluded with the team’s relegation.

Mosimane was entrusted with the challenge of rescuing Abha Club from relegation but ultimately fell short on the final matchday of the Saudi Pro League season.

Under Mosimane’s leadership, the team experienced a remarkable turnaround, accumulating 18 points and securing three clean sheets in the final 15 games, a stark contrast to the mere 14 points earned in the first 19 games of the season.

But that was not enough as they missed out on survival by a mere two points. The club returns to the drawing board as they plot an early return to the Roshn League. When questioned about a potential return to the club, Mosimane stated that his decision hinges on a single, crucial factor.

In a response to FARPost, he laid out the one condition that would convince him to return to the club.
“A lot of things need to change at Abha Club, you need to dismantle a lot of things and reassemble then we can talk,” he said.

Mosimane has won the Saudi second-tier league with five games to go. He helped Al Ahli Saudi gain automatic promotion to the Roshn League.

Mosimane expressed confidence in his ability to lead Abha back to the top tier of competition, provided the necessary conditions are met.

“We’ve won that league with five games to go. We found Al Ahli were number 9. Yeah, we will see [what happens in the near future] because we don’t rush. There are a lot of important things to do at the club.”

Citing Manchester United as an example of a club with significant financial investment but lacking results, Mosimane emphasised that a comprehensive overhaul is necessary to reverse the fortunes of a club in Abha’s situation.
