Sundowns star exchanges soccer boots for Golf

Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana exchanged his soccer boots for Golf clubs as his foundation hosted an annual charity event on Saturday.

Through his Grant Kekana Foundation, the 31-year-old has been involved in charity work since 2015.

He hosted Golfers from across the country for his first annual Golf tournament held at Euphoria Golf Estate in Mookgophong, Limpopo, to raise money for the needy.

The Golf day was attended by, amongst others, his teammates Aubrey Modiba and Mothobi Mvala. Bafana Bafana legends Mark Williams and Edward Motale also graced the event.

Former PSL General Manager Andrew Dipela and Grant’s mother, Pinky Kekana, a member of parliament, were also present to witness the event.

“The Golf Day serves as a fundamental initiative for the project that we have for the foundation,” Kekana explained to FARPost.

“Today [Saturday] was for people’s minds to come together and network. Today was a day that overwhelmed me and the team because the support we received was something we didn’t think about. But we are very appreciative and grateful for it. We can only hope to grow stronger from this one.”

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STAR WANTS TO MAKE AN IMPACT IN YOUNG PEOPLE’S LIVES

“The foundation has programmes like soccer clinics and school tournaments that we want to bring up. We also want to try to bring women from different professions to talk to young women who don’t know which career path to take,” he added.

“To teach them what it takes to be a successful businesswoman in society or in politics. That’s what the whole event was about to raise money for all those projects and I think today was sufficient enough for me to say that people heard what we had to offer and what we want to do. A lot of them are giving us a heads-up.”
