PSL side beats Simba, TP Mazembe to Daniel Msendami’s signature

A PSL side has emerged victorious in the race to sign Jwaneng Galaxy’s star, Daniel Msendami, outmanoeuvring continental giants Simba SC and TP Mazembe.

Msendami played a crucial role in Galaxy’s double win, securing the Orange FA Cup on Saturday and being named player of the tournament.

The Zimbabwean international is a highly sought-after talent, attracting attention from numerous clubs throughout the region who are eager to sign him. Msendami had an outstanding 2023/24 season, contributing to 28 goals with 12 goals and 16 assists. He was instrumental in Galaxy’s successful title defence.

The Warriors winger is considered a strong contender for the Botswana Premier League Player of the Season award. The 23-year-old was a target for Tanzania giants Simba SC and TP Mazembe of DRC.

Galaxy’s South African coach, Morena Ramoreboli, said he would be happy to let him go if there’s an opportunity that takes his game to the next level. The Bulawayo-born star is out of contract at the end of the month.

“The boy has done very well. He’s the future,” Ramoreboli told FARPost. “If one were to say do you want to keep him, I’d say yes.

“He has shown he has the potential to become a better player. If there’s an opportunity that’ll develop his future, I’ll release him. I’ll be very worried if he goes to an environment where he will not develop. I pray he gets an opportunity where he can grow as a player.”

Indications are that Msendami could be playing his football in South Africa next season. According to a Warriors teammate, Msendami has agreed on a deal with Marumo Gallants.

Gallants, relegated last season, are pushing to buy Moroka Swallows’ status and play in the DStv Premiership next season. Based on Ramoreboli’s comments, it appears Msendami has his coach’s approval to pursue a transfer.
