SuperSport United make decision on Thulani Hlatshwayo
SuperSport United have made a decision on the future of their veteran defender, Thulani Hlatshwayo, with his contract nearing its end.
The 34-year-old defender has been an absolute colossus for Gavin Hunt’s side at the back, featuring in 30 matches across all competitions last season.
He missed some of the matches after undergoing surgery for ankle ligaments having picked an injury in December.
The former Bafana Bafana captain joined the Swanky Boys on a free transfer in 2022, penning a one-year deal with an option to extend after departing Orlando Pirates.
The club exercised the option in June last year and his current contract was going to run out at the end of June.
SUPERSPORT UNITED GRANT THULANI HLATSHWAYO ANOTHER YEAR
FARPost has learnt that SuperSport have granted Hlatshwayo another year with the club looking to return stronger next season.
Overall, the former Bidvest Wits captain has played 52 matches, scoring only one goal in SuperSport United colours.
OTHER OUT-OF-CONTRACT UNITED PLAYERS
Abdulrazack Mohamed Hamza
As previously reported by FARPost, SuperSport could soon part ways with Tanzania international Abdulrazack Mohamed Hamza, whose contract also ends this month.
The 21-year-old saw little game time last season, making nine appearances in four appearances that the Pretoria side competed in. Hamza arrived in SA in July last year, joining United from the Tanzanian side Namungo FC.
Washington Arubi
The 38-year-old returned to SuperSport for the second stint at the beginning of last season from relegated Marumo Gallants.
He penned a one-year deal and an option to extend. Arubi could stay put as SuperSport will lose their number goalkeeper, Ricardo Goss, who returns to his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Matsatsantsa have already extended the contract of Ghampani Lungu as his contract was also going to expire at the end of June.
