They need a win or draw in a final match when they host Baroka FC at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday, 19 June at 3 pm.
Richards Bay are on top of the mini-league table having accumulated five points after three games. They are the only side to have not suffered a defeat in the group.
AmaTuks, who have played all their four matches, are second with five points while Baroka sit in third place with only two points.
Richards Bay are optimistic about returning to the DStv Premiership next season. They have hit the ground running with their preparations, making two signings ahead of the pre-season.
WHICH TWO SIGNINGS RICHARDS BAY HAVE MADE?
The KZN ABC Motsepe League side Mkhumbane Classic FC have confirmed that their duo, Fezile Gcaba and Sbani Khumalo have signed with the Natal Rich Boyz.
“Hearty congratulations go to 2 of our players for signing with Richards Bay FC. Wish them both the best of luck with the endeavors,” the club confirmed on social media.
In the past two weeks, Khumalo, who plays as a left-back won the Player of the Tournament award at the fast-growing Durban’s off-season tournament – Khabba Cup.
A product of the Orlando Pirates academy, the 25-year-old Gcaba gained valuable experience on a loan spell with Cape Town All-Stars while he later turned out for Venda Football Academy and Uthongathi FC.
Gcaba, who plays as a centre-back, could be earmarked as Abdi Banda’s replacement with the Tanzanian defender leaving the club after a one-season stint.
Meanwhile, Richards Bay will also lose Sanele Barns who signed with Stellenbosch FC earlier this year.
They could also bid farewell to their number one goalkeeper Salim Magoola who’s on the radar of various clubs in the DStv Premiership.
