PSL rivals clash over Jomo Sono prodigy Onke Moletshe

A transfer battle is heating up between PSL rivals SuperSport United and Sekhukhune United to secure the signature of Onke Moletshe, a promising young winger discovered by the legendary Jomo Sono.

Sono discovered the speedy winger as a youth, handing him a senior team contract in 2017 at the age of 17.

Moletshe, a former SA Under-20 international, has been making waves with his impressive performances for Venda Football Academy. He joined the Motsepe Foundation Championship club two seasons ago.

The dynamic winger boasts an impressive record. In the 2023/24 season, he made eight goal contributions in 16 games, two goals, and six assists. His previous season was equally noteworthy, with ten goal contributions in 20 games, including two goals and eight assists.

WHY ONKE MOLETSHE HAS CAUGHT THE EYES OF PSL RIVALS

The 24-year-old’s ability to both score and create goals has caught the eye of several top-flight clubs. But SuperSport and Sekhukhune have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature. The two clubs are reportedly locked in intense negotiations, each hoping to lure the talented youngster to their ranks.

For SuperSport, Moletshe would be a valuable addition to their attacking options, providing pace, creativity, and a keen eye for goal. Sekhukhune, meanwhile, sees the winger as a key component in their plans should they lose Elias Mokwana. The national team winger is on the radar of Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.

The tug-of-war for Moletshe’s services is a testament to his burgeoning talent and potential. Discovered by Sono, a renowned figure in South African football, Moletshe has honed his skills under the guidance of one of the country’s most respected coaches.

As the transfer window progresses, the battle for Moletshe’s signature is set to intensify.
