Royal AM official fails to parachute amateur side to PSL

The attempt by Royal AM General Manager Richard Makhoba to assist SAFA ABC Motsepe League side Thames FC from North West to gain promotion via the boardroom case has been dismissed.

This follows the conclusion of the SAFA DC hearing on Saturday afternoon.

Makhoba was reportedly at the forefront of the protest lodged by North West side Thames FC. He was also the main witness in the case that adjourned at 3:00AM on Saturday and resumed at 11:00AM.

Thames alleged that Kruger United used a defaulter during the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, which began on Tuesday in Upington. The player in question, Thabang Gumede, was alleged not to have received a clearance from Royal AM to Summerfield Dynamos, where Kruger signed him from.

But FARPost has established that the case was dismissed with costs on Saturday.

WHY THE CASE WAS DISMISSED BY THE SAFA DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE

“The ruling was that the complaint brought by Thames was dismissed on the basis that the player was registered [properly] by Kruger. The committee was satisfied that the player was cleared by the team that last registered him before Kruger United,” Kruger United attorney Tomas Sibuyi confirmed to FARPost

“So we are confident about the case. It’s just a team that is failing to accept the outcome of the game. The principle of FIFA fair play is that a football match must be played on the field of play. Not in the boardroom.

SAFA ARE YET TO OFFICIALLY COMMUNICATE THE DECISION, BUT THE ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE SIDE BREATH A SIGH OF RELIEF

“Unfortunately we are forced to come and respond to a case that has been brought by Thames. They are not willing to accept that they lost from the village boys,” he said.

There have been reports that Thames could appeal the decision but SAFA are yet to issue an official communication on the rolling. Kruger will now take on Highbury FC on Sunday for the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs’ ultimate prize.
