Vasili Manousakis gives update on his future after CT Spurs relegation

Vasili Manousakis has given an update on his future at Cape Town Spurs following the club’s relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Manousakis was appointed by Urban Warriors as an assistant coach following the sacking of Shaun Bartlett and his technical team, Nasief Morris and Calvin Marlin, earlier this season.

He first served under the then-club’s Technical Director, Sean Connor, who was a temporary head coach prior to the appointment of Bartlett.

The club went on to bring Ernst Middendorp on board as a head coach, taking over in November.

Manousakis has revealed that he has had positive discussions with the club about his future, with the management indicating they want to keep last season’s technical team.

WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS FOR VASILI MANOUSAKIS

“Yeah, we’ve had a couple of meetings, and you know, Ernst [Middendorp] stayed, and the club is trying to keep the technical team as best they can and as many players as possible,” Manousakis told FARPost.

“So, that’s where things are; we’ve had a good couple of meetings. I met the coach earlier this week. So, things are progressing nicely.”

Manousakis says they’re hoping to help the Western Cape-based club bounce back next season with the goal of returning to the DStv Premiership.

He stated his belief that Cape Town Spurs deserves a place in the top-flight.

‘THIS IS A FANTASTIC CLUB’

“This is a fantastic club, excellent facilities and a great academy,” he added. “We’re trying to see what we can do to get things back on track.”

Meanwhile, the club’s head coach, Middendorp, made a U-turn after leaving following the conclusion of last season. However, a few days later, Spurs announced his return to the position.

Last season, CT Spurs won five games, drew five and lost nine out of 19 games they played under his guidance.
