Mike Makaab addresses Andile Jali’s next move amid interest from Magesi
Prosport International CEO Mike Makaab has addressed Andile Jali’s next move amid interest from DStv Premiership newbies Magesi FC.
The experienced midfielder has been a free agent for over six months after parting ways with Moroka Swallows in December 2023.
Jali was among a handful of Swallows players who allegedly staged a protest over a payment dispute with the club. The former Bafana Bafana international only spent six months with the Dube Birds, joining the team at the start of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
In his spell at Swallows, Jali featured in 13 appearances across all competitions, forming a solid midfield paring with Lantshene Phalane in the middle of the park.
Meanwhile, various media houses have reported that Jali is on the radar of the Limpopo outfit following their promotion to the SA’s top-flight.
WHAT DID MIKE MAKAAB SAY ABOUT ANDILE JALI’S FUTURE?
Jali’s agent, Mike Makaab, has revealed that the rumours about his client joining Magesi are not true. However, they are finalising his next move.
The midfield workhorse is a vastly experienced player who played for clubs such as AmaTuks, Orlando Pirates, KV Oostende, and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“There’s no truth in reports that are linking Andile Jali with Magesi, but I can tell you that we are close to finalising his next move,” Makaab told FARPost.
During the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign, Magesi beat AmaTuks to the automatic promotion after the two clubs opened a two-horse race for promotion.
Dikwena won 16 league matches in the previous season, drew nine and lost five times in 30 games. They collected 57 points to seal their promotion for the upcoming season.
Interestingly, Magesi are also chasing out-of-contract Sekhukhune United defender Lebogang Mabotja and Sibusiso Mabiliso, who has been without a club since parting ways with AmaZulu FC.
