Pitso Mosimane’s unexpected offer to Teboho Mokoena

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has made an unexpected offer to Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena amidst speculation surrounding his future.

Mokoena’s stock has risen in recent months with stellar performances on the continent, attracting interest from abroad.

His displays at the AFCON, where he helped Bafana Bafana finish third, cemented his status as one of the best midfielders on the continent.

The talented midfielder has been linked with several overseas clubs, including Qatar‘s Al Wakrah. Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco, AFC Bournemouth and Al Ahly have been mentioned as clubs eyeing him.

In a recent interview, Mosimane expressed his willingness to guide Mokoena in making the right career decisions.

WHAT WAS PITSO MOSIMANE’S OFFER TO TEBOHO MOKOENA?

“Qatar is good. But if he wants to know where to go, where to be, why there, why not there, he can give me a call, I can advise,” Mosimane stated. He further emphasised that his intention is not to act as Mokoena’s manager or agent but rather to offer support. “I don’t want to be his manager or agent. He’s my boy,” Mosimane affirmed.

Mosimane’s experience in both African and Middle Eastern football makes him well-positioned to offer valuable insights to Mokoena as he ponders his options.

Interestingly, Mosimane’s former club, Al Ahly of Egypt, are known to be admirers of the Bafana Bafana midfield ace.

The dynamic 27-year-old, who joined Sundowns from SuperSport United in January 2022, signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with an option to extend for an additional year.

A shining star in the DStv Premiership, Mokoena has already helped secure two league titles for the Brazilians, further proving his value to the team. He also helped them lift the inaugural African Football League and the 2021/22 Nedbank Cup

In his two-and-a-half years at the club, he has started 79 matches, scored nine goals, and provided seven assists.
