Stellenbosch FC cut ties with Gambia youth international
Stellenbosch FC have cut ties with Gambia youth international Salifu Colley ahead of the 2024/25 PSL season.
Colley signed for Stellies at the beginning of the last term from Real de Banjul, a Gambian professional football club based in Banjul.
He joined the Cape Winelands-based outfit alongside Kgaogelo Sekgota, Thabo Moloisane, Genino Palace, Thulani Mini, Anicet Oura, Olivier Toure, Oscarine Masuluke and Mashweu Mphahlele.
The Gambia-born footballer managed to make five appearances across all competitions for Stellies in the just-ended PSL season.

“Stellenbosch Football Club can confirm that the club has parted ways with Gambia youth international Salifu Colley,” read the statement after Stellenbosch cut ties with Gambia international.
“Colley joined Stellenbosch from Real de Banjul at the start of the 2023/24 season and made five appearances throughout his solitary campaign in the Cape Winelands.
“We thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
CAPE TOWN CITY FC CONFIRM NEW SIGNING
Meanwhile, the club’s arch-rivals Cape Town City FC confirmed the signing of a new winger to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
CT City announced the signing of Kayden Francis from Chippa United. Francis, who plays as a winger, penned a four-year deal with the Citizens.
The new recruit, Francis, is only 21 years old, but he will be expected to add value to Eric Tinkler’s attacking options.
In addition, the Citizens will play an international club friendly against German side SV Wehen Wiesbaden. The game will take place on the 4th of July at DHL Stadium at 7:30 PM.
“Tickets will be free of charge. The tickets can be collected from our head office in Shortmarket Street starting Monday, 1 July,” said CT City in a press release.
“We look forward to hosting international opposition as we build ahead to season 2024/25.”
