Inside Marumo Gallants’ closed-door meeting: Dylan Kerr named coach

With Marumo Gallants set to begin pre-season preparations on Monday, players have reportedly been notified that Dylan Kerr will be their head coach.

As first reported by FARPost, Kerr was a frontrunner for the Gallants job ahead of an unnamed French coach. At some point, Morena Ramoreboli was linked with the job as the club returns to topflight football.

However, the two-time league winner in Botswana penned a new one-year deal with Jwaneng Galaxy.
Another name that was linked to the job is that of Lehlohonolo Seema, who recently parted ways with Sekhukhune United.

However, Gallants’ management convened with players on Friday to unveil their strategic vision for the upcoming season.

At that meeting, players were told that Kerr, a Nedbank Cup winner in 2020/21, is set to begin his fresh stint with the club next week.

The development comes after Gallants secured their spot in the DStv Premiership for the upcoming season by acquiring the status of Moroka Swallows. The team will be based in Bloemfontein, with the Free State Stadium as their home ground.

The appointment would signal a new chapter for Gallants, who are looking to rebuild and establish themselves as a competitive force in the DStv Premiership.

DYLAN KERR TO ASSESS SQUAD AND PLOT THE WAY FORWARD

The 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup semi finalists have not done much business on the transfer market. Their first signing was Jwaneng Galaxy’s mercurial winger Daniel Msendami.

The Zimbabwe Warriors forward joins Bahlabane ba Ntwa on a two-year deal. It means Kerr’s first task is to assess the pool of players at his disposal. And make a decision on who he will work with.

The team regroups on Monday to start their preseason training ahead of the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.
