Mike Makaab comments on Shandre Campbell’s links to Club Brugge

Renowned football agent Mike Makaab has commented on Shandre Campbell’s links to Belgian side Club Brugge.

The SuperSport United teenage sensation had a fantastic season with Matsatsantsa, as he featured in 30 games across all competitions.

In those 30 matches, Campbell contributed five goals and weighed in with six assists in the process.

Campbell was promoted to the senior team in July 2023. The 18-year-old made his debut for the Tshwane side when they defeated Richards Bay FC 2-0 in a DStv Premiership tie in August last year at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The youngster played a key role in their win against Richards Bay. He provided an assist that led to the Gavin Hunt-coached side’s opening goal after he set up his teammate Terrence Dzvukamanja.

Campbell did not stop there as he went on to play a role in the second goal scored by Etiosa Ighodaro, who has returned to his parent club Mamelodi Sundowns. At the end of that showdown against the KwaZulu-Natal outfit, Campbell was voted the DStv Premiership Man of the Match.

Given his stellar displays in the just-ended PSL campaign, Campbell became the talk of the town, catching the eyes of several teams.

To put the cherry on top, Campbell was nominated for the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season alongside Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng and his teammate Ime Okon.

MIKE MAKAAB ON SHANDRE CAMPBELL’S MOVE TO CLUB BRUGGE

FARPost reached out to the player’s agent, Makaab, who provided the latest update on the SuperSport starlet’s move to Europe.

Makaab revealed to this website that things are still “premature”. In addition he stated that there is still a lot of work to be done, insisting that nothing has materialised thus far.

However, the agent, Makaab, did not hide the fact that they are still in discussions with Club Brugge.

“What I can say for now is that it’s too premature at the moment. We are still in discussions with the club,” Makaab told this publication.

“There’s still work to be done. Not finalised.”

According to reports, Club Brugge are not the team interested in Campbell’s services, as the youngster has also attracted the interest of Dutch team Feyenoord and Danish side FC Midtjylland.
